Data driven value creation for impact and exploitation from research and innovation

This is an activity that focusses on how to use data to create values. This is relevant in areas such as:

Space Tech

Key Enabling Technologies

Deeptech

Advanced Technologies

The activity is based on forums which are held regularly.

Research findings often end up in a limbo stage. They are only in published papers and presented at conferences. All papers are not open access. Conferences have limited audience. European funding is requesting realistic impact and exploitation.

Technology readiness level may be high, but what is the societal readiness level? What is the usefulness of the research outcome? Is it real usefulness? Is anyone actually interested? Has need of it? Or is it imagined interest/need? Is there realistic impact, or is impact only as fluffy words? How does it align with coming regulations related to data and digitalization so outcomes are relevant?

Horizon 2026-2027 expectations:

Impact: credibility of uptake and exploitation

Exploitation plans: beyond generic IP statements

Space Leap

Deep dive workshops for those who want to go deeper in their own case and learn from each other.

On Earth it is called frog leap. Learning more about creating values from shared data can make a space leap for research to be used in the society. This is an ultimate demonstrator of impact and exploitation from research and innovation. It is post project and long-term impact.

– A technology is not relevant without the digital transition
– Value chains can only optimize by data shared along the chain
– Regulations (digital product passports, dataspaces, etc) require to share data

Data and digitalization

create values and assets

Physical asset

Digital asset

Sustainability asset

Technologies are physical assets. Technology is not relevant without the digital transition and matching with up-coming regulations in data, AI and digitalization. The products must align with requirements such as digital products passports, data spaces, etc. The data is essential. It has to be shared, evidenced, trusted, traceable, etc. This will create values which people and companies will benefit from. The values can be digital assets. Data that is used to evidence the CO2 impact will give sustainability assets. (Read more here)

Case study from Innovation Radar

As case study we will use “Tokenization of CS-PVT for Value Chain Optimization” that is a contribution by Alminica AB in rePowerSiC project to the Innovation Radar. It was evaluated by Innovation Radar team:

The Innovation Radar is a European Commission initiative to identify high potential innovations and innovators in EU-funded research and innovation projects. Read about it here.

* rePowerSiC is part of the EIC Pathfinder Portfolio “In Space Solar Energy Harvesting,” funded by the European Innovation Council (EIC) that is a visionary initiative uniting nine cutting-edge projects to revolutionize how solar energy is collected, transmitted, and used in space. EIC Pathfinder projects are for deep tech that takes forward breakthrough projects with a high degree of scientific and technological ambition and risk and potential to create a new market (TRL 1-4). Details about European Commissions funding of rePowerSiC here.
